May 2006 Wine Chateaux of Bordeaux ...

We visited an impressive number of the most amazing chateaux and wineries in Bordeaux. It was created by Jean Noel Fourmeaux of Chateaux Potelle in Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley.

He is a Bordeaux homie so the trip was probably impossible to find any where else. What a treat!

The following are not necessarily in the order visited, but are a sampling of the trip.

There are no pictures of the meals we ate and the wine we drank. Although there is evidence in my growing girth.

Bags at the Station

So here we are the the Gare in Bordeaux waiting for our pick up.

Nice color on the bgs, right?

Needless to say, no one tried to take ours.

Dinner at Cadalie
This is dinner at the Cadalie resort.

It is directly across from Chateau Smith Haut LaFitte.

We had dinner here more than once and it was wonderful.

That is Rob and Jean Noel, but neither red-head is me.

Smith Haut Lafitte

This is the Chateau Smith Haut-Lafitte. These were the nicest people you can imagine. Daniel and his lovely wfe seemed to have nothing to do but treat us like special guests.

Check their site for moe great photos.

Angelus wine

We visited the Chateau Angelus and had luch there.

We tasted the 2005 and had several others at the tasting and lunch.

What a gorgeous place.

Antoine Gaby

Soon we were of to Chateau du Gaby. In a different area, but the owner is such at treat, the side step was worth it.

This is the owner of the Chateau Gaby, Antoine. Here with Jean Noel. Two charming Frenchmen.
